WHY SHAVING IRRITATES YOUR SKIN
Studies have shown that skin irritation increases with every blade pass.
A typical cartridge drags three to five edges across your skin on every stroke, and every extra pass adds more.
In one study, about 4 in 10 men had redness after shaving with a single blade, versus nearly 6 in 10 with a cartridge. 4 in 10 is still too many.
A fixed safety razor has one gap for every area and every day's growth. When the gap doesn't suit the hair, the blade can't cut it cleanly, so you go over the same spot again or press harder. Both irritate your skin.
Set the gap for each part of your face and each day's growth, so the blade cuts cleanly with fewer passes and less pressure.
WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS
Dermatologists and shaving scientists agree on what drives razor burn: how many times the blade crosses your skin, and how hard.
Hard-to-cut stubble makes men press harder and go over the same spot again. Both raise the odds of irritation.1
Maurer et al., Int J Cosmet Sci, 2016
Shaving removes skin along with the hair. In a lab skin model, even one dry pass of a razor disrupted the skin’s barrier.2,3
Turner et al., 2007; Costello et al., 2023
In one split-face study, 40.3% of participants had redness right after shaving on the side shaved with a single-blade safety razor, vs 57.6% on the side shaved with a 3-blade cartridge. The researchers point to the friction and pressure of multiple passes.4
Boodoo et al., Skin Res Technol, 2024
Fewer passes means less friction. SETPOINT™’s dial lets you set the blade gap for your stubble and your skin, so you can shave with fewer passes.

Your cheeks, chin and neck each have their own hair density and skin sensitivity. And the longer it's been since your last shave, the longer that hair has grown. SETPOINT™ lets you set the blade gap for the part of your face you're shaving and for how long it's been.
HOW ADJUSTABLE RAZORS WORK

The space between the blade and the safety bar. Hair has to fit in that space before the blade can cut it.
Short hair can enter a smaller cutting chamber perfectly and gets a nice, clean cut. A small blade gap is ideal for shorter hair or areas where the hair is sparse.
The safety bar presses longer hair down, but the small opening leaves less room for hair to rise into the cutting chamber. This leads to the blade cutting the hair unevenly, so you go over it again, or press harder.
A larger opening gives longer hair more room to enter the cutting chamber and meet the blade. This helps the razor cut the hair more efficiently on the first try, with less pressure.
If the blade gap is too big and the hair is short or sparse, there's more chance of the blade making contact with your skin, which causes skin irritation.
A fixed-gap razor gives you one blade gap for every hair length, shaving area and level of sensitivity. To get a different gap, you have to buy a new razor.
Why SETPOINT™
Turn one dial to set the blade gap anywhere from 1 to 6, even mid-shave.

As you turn the dial, the blade gap changes, so you can set it for the area you're shaving and how long it's been.
Turn the dial down to reduce the blade gap. The smaller opening gives shorter hair a controlled path to the blade and provides a gentler shaving experience.
Turn the dial up to create more room in the cutting chamber. Longer or denser hair can enter more easily and meet the blade for a cleaner, more efficient cut.
Dial down for sensitive areas like the neck, then dial up for denser hair on the cheeks and jawline. You can adjust SETPOINT™ anytime, even mid-shave.
From shorter hair to longer growth, and from your cheeks to sensitive areas, SETPOINT™ lets you choose the blade gap that feels right for each part of your shave.

A cartridge puts more edges on your skin. A fixed safety razor gets the blade right, with one gap. SETPOINT™ has one blade and a gap you set for every part of your face, every day.
Comparison by design, not a clinical test. Cartridge razor: a typical 3- to 5-blade cartridge. Fixed safety razor: a single-blade safety razor with one blade gap.
SETPOINT™ VS. CARTRIDGE RAZORS
Cartridge razors lock you into proprietary refills that can cost several dollars each. Every replacement sends the blades, plastic housing and lubricating strips to the trash. SETPOINT™ uses simple, recyclable standard safety razor blades that cost pennies, so replacement costs stay lower over time.
Once you buy the handle, you have to keep buying cartridges made for that specific system, often costing several dollars per refill.
The blades, plastic housing and lubricating strips are discarded together whenever you replace the cartridge.
Standard safety razor blades have been off-patent for over 100 years. They’re widely available, cost pennies per blade, and the steel can be recycled where local facilities accept used razor blades.
Cartridge refills can cost several dollars each. Standard safety razor blades cost pennies, so replacement costs stay lower over time.

Pick whichever you like. Both aluminum finishes are light and balanced in the hand, and $50 less than stainless. The 316L stainless is brushed steel and heavier. All three share the same head and dial.
Every box comes with one SETPOINT™ razor in your chosen finish and a 5-pack of Rockwell safety razor blades.
The 6S and 6C change the gap by swapping flippable base plates. The T2 has a dial but loads blades through butterfly doors. SETPOINT™ has a continuous dial and a solid two-piece head, so you change the gap mid-shave without taking anything apart.

A fixed safety razor has one gap for your whole face and every day’s growth. If the gap is too small for your stubble, you go over the same spot again or press harder. If it’s too large, it’s more aggressive than your neck needs. SETPOINT™ lets you turn the dial to match the area and how long it’s been since you shaved.
