A Celebration of 10 Years of Shaving Innovation
It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed since I first launched Rockwell Razors. I still remember the day our very first Kickstarter campaign went live. At the time, I was in university, working on a project for my Environmental Sciences course that focused on the staggering amount of waste generated by disposable cartridge razors. Millions of plastic cartridges were being discarded every day, contributing to a growing environmental crisis. It was shocking to realize that something as routine as shaving could create such a massive waste problem.
So I researched the shaving industry further, and it became clear that the waste issue was just one part of a larger problem. The big brands had monopolized the market, offering a handful of cartridge or disposable razors that didn’t even give that good a shave for some men. Shaving had become impersonal, with no way to tailor the experience to individual needs. That’s when it hit me - an idea for a better razor, through adjustability. I wanted to create a razor that not only reduced waste but also brought real innovation to the shaving industry that would make shaving something people could truly enjoy.
That was the beginning of Rockwell Razors!
Ten Years of Innovation and Engineering Excellence
Fast forward 10 years, and Rockwell Razors' patented flippable base plate technology is a breakthrough in adjustability, allowing users to customize their shave with ease — something no other brand offers.
That innovation didn’t stop with the 6S. Over the past decade, we've engineered products like the Rockwell T2, a twist-to-open butterfly cap safety razor with over 20 moving parts that we recently made available in stainless steel.
The 24-karat Gold Spark
Today, to mark 10 years of Rockwell Razors, we’ve taken things a step further. We’ve done something no one has ever done before: we’ve created a 24-karat gold-plated edition of our best-selling Rockwell 6S. It’s a symbol of everything we’ve built over the past decade — innovation, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to providing the best shaving experience possible.
A Razor Worth Its Weight in Gold
The Rockwell 6S has always been about precision, adjustability, and durability. But this time, we’ve taken it to a new level by plating it in 24-karat gold. Beneath that stunning gold finish, it’s still made of pure stainless steel, just like our original 6S that launched on Kickstarter back in September 2014.
The Rockwell 6S in Gold is not just beautiful to look at — it's engineered to perfection, with the same adjustable design that made the original 6S a game-changer. The gold plating is the ultimate expression of our commitment to quality and innovation.
The Engineering Challenge
Creating the Rockwell 6S in 24K Gold was no easy feat and far more challenging than we initially anticipated. We used metal injection molding to create the individual parts, but plating stainless steel with gold while maintaining symmetry and consistency across the razor was a difficult task.
Each razor had to undergo multiple stages of complex surface treatment to ensure durability and consistency. Many parts were rejected due to issues like scratches, color inconsistencies, and hanging marks. Further, passing the corrosion test meant that we had to carefully manage the plating thickness within tight tolerances. This meant that even a variation of less than 1mm in thickness was enough to impact the shaving performance and overall experience, which meant that any minor deviation was immediately rejected. We had to make and test over 10 different molds, each designed to ensure that the razor's blade gaps and adjustability matched the original 6S. We had to do 3 production runs of over 1500 units each to get 500 units of only the best 24-karat gold plated 6S.
Overall, it was a complex process, but the result is a razor that marries luxury with engineering excellence.

From day one, we’ve been obsessed with building razors that are durable and reliable. The Rockwell 6S has always been praised for its strength, but by adding 24-karat gold, we’ve created something even more special. This razor will not only stand the test of time but will make every shave feel like a luxury experience.
The 6S Gold glides effortlessly across the skin, offering a smooth, irritation-free shave, just as our original 6S does — but with an added layer of elegance that makes it a true collector’s item.
This limited-edition release is more than just a product; it’s a tribute to the journey we’ve been on for the last decade and a thank you to everyone who’s been part of it.
